SWAN - Structured Wiring Audio Network
Luxury Multi-Room System - SWAN Components
SDTM & MIN-2
The SDTM can house two ADA tuner modules. Available modules include: regular and HD AM, FM, WX {weather band} (the TFM-1 and HDM-1), Sirius Satellite Radio (SSM-1) and XM Satellite Radio XMM-1. Both Sirius and XM require a subscription. The SDTM works with ADA's family of antenna combiners and extenders including the popular ACB-1 and ACB-2 that combine satellite radio, AM and FM antennas onto one RG-6 coax cable that can be run 130' to the ACB-2 which can be housed on the SDTM-MP SWAN Dual Tuner Module Mounting Plate. The ACB-1 and ACB-2 are sold separately as are all SWAN components. The SDTM is ordered with the desired tuner modules. Also ordered separately is the SDTM-MP Mounting Plate and a MIN-2 for each tuner.
The MIN-2 converts the tuner's stereo outputs to an RJ-45 female jack so that a Cat-5 cable can plug the tuner into the ZCI-8 Audio Input/IR Controller Module. MIN-2s can also be used with iBase eXtenders mounted in the structured wiring box. The MIN-2's male RCA jacks use standard RCA spacing and plug into several ADA devices. Of the eight wires going to a MIN-2, four are used for balanced audio and two to power the MIN-2.
MIN-1 & MIN-4
The MIN-1 and MIN-4 are about the only SWAN components that are mounted in remote rooms (other than keypads). These are the wall plates that route audio to the ZCI-8. Both the single-gang Decora MIN-1 and the double-gang Decora MIN-2 feature stereo audio inputs and 1/8" mini-jack IR flasher outputs. Because the ZCI-8 features a built-in IR controller, sources connect directly to IR flashers that plug right into the MIN-1 and MIN-4. Each source requires its own Cat.-5 cable. In the case of the MIN-4, as many as four Cat.-5 wires would be run if all four inputs are to be used. The eight wires of the Cat-5 cable run balanced audio (4 wires), IR control (2 wires), and power to the MIN (2 wires).
ZCI-8 Audio Input/IR Controller Module
Only one ZCI-8 is required for each SWAN system and is mounted to the ZCI8-MP Mounting Plate that is ordered separately. The ZCI-8 features eight audio inputs (RJ-45 female jacks). Cat-5 wire is run to the MIN-1 and MIN-4 Source Input Modules. The MIN-2 also plugs into the ZCI-8. The ZCI-8 has a 50-pin Amphenol connector at its base which plugs into a ZCA-4 or ZCP-4. In addition to bussing up to eight source components to up to twelve four zone controllers (ZCA-4s or ZCP-4s), the ZCI-8 is also the SWAN system's source IR controller/learner. It houses the same IRL module used in the IRL-8 with Suite 16, Suite 8x8 and Suite 8100 systems, using the same software and IR libraries. The ZCI-8 also features the Suite 8x8's paging input providing both low-voltage and serial triggered paging which works with ADA's Phone Suite. The SWAN system is limited to eight sources that will include SDTM tuners. If you are using two tuners in the SDTM, there will be six available inputs left on the ZCI-8
ZCA-4 Zone Controller Integrated Amplifier
The ZCA-4 is a four-zone integrated power amplifier that features the 50 pin Amphenol connector both top and bottom. It can plug directly into the ZCI-8 and its bottom connector is used to plug in additional ZCA-4 or ZCA-P, each of which features and address switch (no two ZC's should be set to the same zone address). The ZCA-4 incorporates ADA's powerful high-current class A/B amplification which outputs 35W/Ch at 8 Ohms, 70 W/Ch at 4 Ohms and is stable down to 2 Ohms. The module is fully fan cooled but should be installed in a ventilated structured wiring enclosure. The ZCA-4 features an ADA Bus jack that is wired to a WH-4 Wire Harness or in a four-zone system without tuners & iBases and run via a third-party control system, directly to an ISO-CAT-2, ISO-USB or ISO-E for system integration. In larger systems, ADA suggests using the WH-4 to interconnect these components. The ZCA-4 also features an RJ-11 female jack for each zone that outputs subwoofer line-level audio to the SWO-1 Subwoofer Output wall plate. The ZCA-4 is ordered separately from the ZCA4-MP Mounting Plate and ZCA-PS Power Supply that are required.
SWO-1
The SWO-1 can run one or two self-powered subwoofers for local bass sound reinforcement. While the SWO-1 only requires a four-conductor telephone type of cable, you can still prewire using the same Cat-5 cable used for source inputs and keypads.
ZCP-4 Zone Controller Preamplifier
The ZCP-4 is similar to the ZCA-4 but is void of any power amplification. It is a four-zone preamplifier and also features the 50-pin Amphenol connectors on its top and bottom for connection to the ZCI-8 or other ZCA-4s or ZCP-4s. The ZCP-4 also features an ADA Bus jack that can be run to the WH-4 or integration accessories (see ZCA-4 above). In addition to the four sub-woofer zone outputs that connect to the SWO-1s just like those of the ZCA-4 (see SWO-1 & ZCA-4 above), the ZCP-4 features four RJ-45 female jacks, one for each zone of the ZCP-4. These run to MOUT-1 Wall Plates via Cat-5 cable. One Cat-5 cable and MOUT-1 are required per zone of preamplification used. Here the eight wires of the Cat-5 cable are used to run balance audio (4 wires), a low voltage zone trigger (2 wires), and power to the MOUT-1 (2 wires). Both the ZCA-4 and ZCP-4 can be setup using ADA's SWAN PC program that will require an ADA ISO-CAT-2 RS-232 I/O, ISO-USB USB I/O or ISO-E Ethernet I/O. The ZCA-P is ordered separately from the ZCA-PMP Mounting Plate and ZCP-PS Power Supply that are required.
MOUT-1 Zone Preamplifier Wall Plate
The MOUT-1 features stereo line-level audio outputs that can connect to local power amplifiers, local preamplifiers, local A/V receivers, local TVs, or local recording devices. Each location will require its own MOUT-1. The MOUT-1 also features a 1/8" mono mini-jack that provides 12VDC trigger whenever the zone is on, which can be used to engage locally placed power amplifiers or other electronics. The green LED also engages when that zone is on.
