TPA-1 Thermionic Preamp with iPod Dock & PF-2150 Two-Channel Power Amplifier

The TPA-1 is designed specifically as a premium audiophile two-channel thermionic (tube) preamplifier that is capable of remote control. Using stepping relays for volume control along with relays for input selection, muting, tones on/off and loudness contour on/off, the TPA-1 can be controlled via IR remote controls and/or touch screen control systems in addition to its front panel knobs. The TPA-1 is available with an iPod dock which lets iPods be controlled via their touch-wheel and at the same time from a remote control. The TPA-1 features three distinct tube stages that enhance the sound dramatically. For all four inputs (including the iPod), there is a tube preamplifier output stage as well as a tube preamp for the tone controls. For the iPod dock, there is a third tube line-driver that enhances the audio from iPods. When iPods are docked, their preamplifier is bypassed. Several iPods feature Wolfson DACs (digital to analog converters) that are extremely effective, especially with loss-less material. The combination of a good iPod (160 and 120 gig iPod classics for example) with the TPA-1 playing loss-less music is incredible. You simply won't believe what your iPod can sound like. And considering the larger iPods can hold as many as 500 uncompressed albums, a TPA-1 makes the perfect addition to the vacation home where taking your record collection with you means fitting it into your pocket or purse. The TPA-1 also plays other sources to sonic perfection including CD transports, radio tuners, and even phonographs (ADA offers the PP-1200 Phono Preamplifier). Up to three sources can be connected to a TPA-1 with iPod dock. As the TPA-1 is also available without an iPod dock (flat top cover), these units have four inputs. The TPA-1 with iPod dock also features a record output (which turns into the fourth input on the unit without an iPod dock) that outputs the source selected at a fixed volume level. This signal can be routed into a multi-room music system so that the wonderful iPod sound can be heard throughout ones home. To make certain that a great preamplifier sounds great on speakers, ADA provides the PF-2150, a two-channel power amplifier. Born from ADA's fabled PTM-6150, the PF-2150 features six MOSFET output devices per channel in a fan-less design. Using a low-noise custom made toroidial power supply and serious filter capacitance, the PF-2150 provides Class A power prior to switching to Class A/B operation. The output is all current driven making it possible for the PF-2150 to drive even extremely demanding speakers. The TPA-1 and PF-2150 are finished in a brushed nickel-plated all-metal chassis. Shown here in non-rack mount select series, the TPA-1 and PF-2150 are also available in 19 inch standard EIA rack mount finishes.
